I have worked as a Licensed Marriage,
Family and Child Therapist for the past 24 years.
I specialize in Cognitive Therapy. I am a Certified
Affiliate with the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, an
international organization certifying Cognitive Therapists.
I combine Cognitive Therapy with Mindfulness - Based
Practices. I also use hypnosis, Lifespan Integration and practices
from various cultures, to help people make desired
changes in their lives.
In my private practice, I work
with a variety of people. I am competent in working
with different cultural perspectives and views.
Some of my clients see me for coaching on goal setting,
problem solving, relationship issues, motivation,
business or career questions. I work extensively
with addiction, including alcohol, drug, eating
related, and smoking cessation. Other clients see
me for Depression, Anxiety, and family issues. In
addition, I work with clients to change core beliefs
formed in childhood (schema) to help them live happier
lives. I counsel couples to teach them how to be
respectful yet effective with one another, resolve
issues without "caving in," express feelings,
and make different choices.

I have worked as a Career Counselor
for the past 33 years. As a Career Counselor,
I help clients find a career path that will make
them happy. Because of my background in personal counseling,
I assist clients if they get stuck at any step in this process so they can
find a career that is a good fit. I help clients identify their skills,
potential industries, personality style, values,
salary and wage requirements, and working environments
that attract them. I provide career testing if necessary.
I teach clients how to research occupations and
inform themselves about the labor market to choose
a career path. I work with various other facets
of career exploration, including identifying educational
avenues, employers, interview skills, tips on résumés
and cover letters, and creative methods to contact
employers.
About My Cognitive Therapy Training
In addition, I supervise complex
cases and teach cognitive therapy to other licensed
mental health professionals. I present training
on cognitive therapy privately for continuing education
units. I have trained other therapists in hospitals,
colleges, school districts, county departments,
and other organizations. I have been a speaker at
numerous professional conferences for other therapists
as well as for career counselors.
